my valentine

a delayed Valentine blog

I always write something for Valentine.

I was too busy then.

But then again, the wise man would have told you that to treat everyday as Valentine and you'll be in a very healthy relationship.

I think that wise man never got married, neither did he got into any serious relationship nor work his way into one.

The wise man's word is bunch of crap and just another bullshit the world can do without.

If everyday is Valentine, that everyday is just another average day.

If every girl is special, there goes the special status of your lady.

Let's just face it.

I am no expert in relationship, not even close to semi amateur.

Someone (probably another wise guy) once said that if you're happily married, you'll live a happy fulfilling life, if not, at least you'll be a great philosopher. I guess this is meant to be a joke. Though on a serious note, someone studying Social Science or Philosophy right now should really do a research on relationship between good marriage and philosophy.

I was on call on the both of the Valentine's Day - by Gregorian or Lunar calendar, but yet the night before I have great time dining out with my dearest and our little Aedan.

From my own reflection, in relationship, there are few stages:

stage one where she loves me, forgets about what annoys her.

stage two is when she loves me more than I annoy her.

stage three is when I annoy her more than she loves me.

stage four is when she can't live without me annoying her.

works vice versa, of course.

it is important to note that in normally, people tend to get married during the late stage one believing that they are already in stage four.

stage two and above usually happens during marriage and that stage three is the most critical stage and there is a high risk of having a relationship failure.

After being married with a child, many people failed to see the room for romance in their life.

I guess during the V day, it is the time for romance. Romance doesn't need to come in the shape of cute or heavenly-priced gift, or doesn't need to be on bended knees and completely threatrical in public. Romance is simply being there to offer little spices of life - hugs, kisses and massages, and be there to listen and to talk heart to talk.

It is simply possible to put a bit of Stage 1, every now and then, into Stage 2, hoping to shorten up Stage 3.

Once you reach Stage 4, it's the 'happily ever after'

Unless of course, the children comes into the picture and further stages will come into play. And that, is when the 'plots thickened'.

End with a wise word from Mother Theresa.

Love is a fruit in season at all times and within the reach of every hand.

play the blame game

Blame

Ananda, is a close disciple of Lord Buddha.

There was once an incident, when a scholar stormed his way into the temple and ask Ananda about Dhamma, and Ananda gave him a basic and simple principle in Buddhism. The scholar was not satisfied and scolded Ananda for being shallow and naive.

That same evening, a commoner stepped into the holy place and the same question popped up for Ananda, and Ananda being mindful of what happened the morning, gave this commoner a heavy lengthy discourse on Buddhism. Again, Ananda was given another round of scolding from this man for such a complicated lecture that tired the ears and the heart.

In the evening, another commoner came in, and Ananda decided to walk the middle path and explain Dhamma, neither too short or too long. Again, he was shot down verbally for his explanation was neither too short to understand, nor too long to really grasp whole of the whole buddhism teaching.

In the night time, Ananda was worried and decided to seek consultation with Lord Buddha. Lord Buddha express a gentle smile: The world is full of praise and blame.
You say too much, you'll be blame. You say too little, you'll be blame. You don't say anything, you'll be blame. You say something, you'll be blame. One must accept blame as one accepted praise.

From the simple teaching of Lord Buddha, I understood that one must receive blame as openly as one accepting praises.

The world is full of blame and praises.
Not all blame are mistakes.
Not all blame are wrongful doing.
Not all blame are evil, unfair or injustice.
Blame happens because of ignorance.

In my line of work, the past few weeks, I was burdened with blame.

There was this Specialist clinic day, when I went to work early in the morning, starting seeing patient on time at 8am. I did not waste any of my time seeing patient. Rarely do I took short rest till the clinic finished seeing all patients. I even took my cup of water into my room to drink in between seeing patients. I even start pressing the number for the next patient as I finishing up seeing current patient. By my final word on the folder of current patient, the next patient should be knocking on my door into seeing me.

After few hours, the queue was becoming more and more, and the worried staff nurse of the clinic began to tell my HOD that clinic was running slow as not enough medical officer. As my senior colleague noted this, already on his way to the Maternity Operation Theatre to get my junior colleague on operation, to come back to clinic as he continued the op, hoping his shorter op time will enable him to come to clinic after finishing elective C-section in MOT.

At this time, my HOD called upon me to his room and going through the list asked me where are the whereabouts of all the MOs. Going through the list, I just tell what I knew of where are all the MOs. To my knowledge, I told my HOD truthfully about where everyone are, and also my senior colleague going to MOT to swap out junior colleague. My HOD thought of elective cases in MOT is tying the clinic down and therefore set a rule to stop all elective cases in MOT during clinic day.

The clinic went smoothly and with a heavy heart, I had to put up my HOD's order. Realizing such order, my specialist was furious with me as knowing the closure of elective cases in MOT will overflood to the elective op day in General OT.

I was given the blame of 'complaining to boss'.

And last few days as our specialist clinic finished at time at 12noon (average time 1pm), I faced another sarcasm from the specialist about MOT being closed.

Somehow, everything started to repeat itself like a bad record player spiced with all the noise that one can only get from the Chowrasta market.

As my senior colleague told me, (words) blame was going around the camp that the MOT got closed on clinic day because of me.

Sarcasm is as always a powerful tool. It can draw blood without drawing the sword, provided it is funny.

If it isn't, it's just a fart - annoying and obnoxious.

Anyway, my continous ardent valor for the clinic is not for the specialist nor my colleagues, but for patients of whom required care and service.

Blame will get around.
Not because blame are mistakes.
Not because blame are wrongful doing.
Not because blame are evil, unfair or injustice.
Blame happens because of ignorance, or unwilling to accept the truth.

moving. no one like to move.

there’s always a reason to move.

but the process of moving may be depressing. at times, a major horror. unless of course, you have a few hundreds extra bucks to spare to hire a moving professionals to get all my item from point A to point B.

I remembered how my life got shorten by few years moving from my hostel in 6th college UM back to Penang. Really putting my sis’s Waja up to the test of endurance and strength. And of course, to my dearest MOM for supervising me.

And I moved from Penang to SP for my posting there. Thanks to Lee family for their major help.

And finally, I moved to the house just across the street for a better comfy everyday life.

this is my 3rd blog move. hopefully the last. Although I love to journey around, but i’m not so much of a nomad at heart.

i moved from my friendster’s blog to wretch’s blog under advisement of my dearest. The pushing factor, my friendster’s blog maxed out. The pulling factor: wide variety of web theme to choose and change as you like.

wretch is by far not so bad, but once I got myself into writing more and more cock and bull story about some cock and some bull shaking their balls doing something silly or pathetic, I began to think I should moderate my comment through Blogspot, and start to monitor from where my silent readers were pouring in, through Feedjit.

Secondly, I was hoping I can perhaps rope in some extra cash by supporting Nuffnang. Well, we’re after all in a global economic crisis, right?

All the above are impossible with wretch’s blog.

Thirdly, I am just an ancient o’ loyal guy that doesn’t really change my favorite stuff regularly. If I like that song, I will listen to that 1 song 24/7 for a few months repeatedly (yes, I do annoy some of my roommate back in those uni years - i apologize). If I like that wantan mee, I will order that nice dish every time I dine there (my dearest got pretty irritated sometime by this habit of mine).

Fourth, like just any regular egoistic Chinese male, we prefer to have our name spelled out (preferably in full) in our web address.

Fifth, blogspot is much more popular | versatile | powerful | English than wretch. Yes, I am a half banana man.

Sixth, I really doesn’t need a reason to move, it is just easy as A-B-C, no luggage, no excess baggage and I don’t expect anyone (especially not my boss) to read this, but I hope this domain will be my 3rd home for me to wind and rewind, and to reminisce later on.
